About

My love of creating started as soon as I can remember- I guess that means when I started knowing what was going on around me and could recall memories.

About Me:

I am a Texas-based artist-and a native Texan, as well as, someone who doesn't quite fit into any box – thus the name Artypical. Not your “typical” art or artist!

My love of creating began as far back as I can remember.  As a child, I would make toys or create decor out of cast-off items or things I would find…hmm, just like I do now!  As I grew, I learned to sew and paint and became very “creatively-crafty”.  For a few years in my young adult life, I had my own craft business- that is when the “country-look” crafts and jewelry were very popular.  Later, in a mid-life career displacement, I was afforded the opportunity to go back to college and finish my degree.  During this brief time, I discovered Photoshop and Illustrator and my entire creative life changed!

Together with my love of flower gardens, discovering objects, animals, insects, places in the great outdoors, finding certain objects to collect or photograph (the list could just go on!) and my love of graphic art- a new creative passion was born!

I am truly blessed to have the talent and opportunity to create these images and I hope you enjoy what you find in these pages.  And when you select one to bring into your home, office, or wherever, I hope it lights up the room in which you place it and that it will bring you happiness and whimsy- perhaps, even a bit of wonder, as well.

About My Art:

My art is not “about” anything particular.  I was inspired to go forward with this art project by the initial picture you see on the intro to my website.  Although he has gone through several name changes, It’s About Time says it all and why I started to create more works and put them out into the world- hopefully for you to purchase and enjoy as I do!

The Dance Collection- I love ballet and was inspired by an old class project to further my work on a ballerina art piece and these floral ballerinas were born!  That led to the Flamenco and I now have other dance variations in the works.

The Farmhouse Collection- This look and decor is everywhere nowadays and I wanted to take it “out of the box”.  Most farmhouse decor is a milky and bleached and I wanted to add a pop of color to the farmhouse-type objects and backgrounds.   Watch for more additions as this collection changes and evolves.

The Birds and Butterflies Collection- Also inspired by a school project, is a small collection but growing in my mind everyday- so I will have new pieces very soon!

The other collections- Architectural and Industrial have a “West Texas” component coming soon.  Whimsical is a more challenging category, as I have to catch the humor in an object before it develops an idea- but new images will be along soon.  The Stills Collection are simply a great photograph I capture when taking snapshots of certain elements- and then rendered to a painted look.

New collections in the works are Beach and Fishing and Wide-Open Spaces.  Come back often to see new additions.

There is an common element represented in each artwork piece by an iconic representation of faith. It also represents my faith in God and the talent and creative gifts He has bestowed upon me. It with great care and respect for the Lord that I use this talent in a manner that represents His beautiful objects of nature. I hope the symbolism will bring you a reminder of our endowed divine peace, love and faith.

Thank you for visiting Artypical Designs and hope you have found a new place to call “(this piece should be in my) home”!
